My partner and I have recently launched a service providing access to quality therapy to Western expats living outside the US. My partner, Dr. Sean Truman, grew up in Nairobi, the son of a US diplomat and international school teacher. We recognized that, for many Westerners living abroad, finding experienced, English-speaking mental health care may be a challenge.

To address this we put together a group of US-based clinicians, all of whom have either have PhDs in their respective fields or decades of clinical experience, or both. In addition, we sought out practitioners, most of whom have lived and worked overseas so they understand firsthand the joys and challenges of expat life. We link our clinicians and patients through secure Skype connections. While we believe that quality face-to-face care is optimal, in many communities it is simply not available. Skype also has some distinct benefits in that it provides both convenience and confidentiality. We've found that many expat communities are often quite small, and that some wish to seek care from a specialist who not only speaks their language and is from their native culture, but also whom is outside their personal network.

We work with patients anywhere in the world outside the US and treat individuals, couples and adolescents over the age of 14. We primarily see people for stress/anxiety/depression, substance abuse, health issues, grieving, and marital and family issues.
