Pleeeeease Help moving to Nairobi in July.
Ny wife just got a great position in Nairobi and we will be moving from New York in July. My son is 12 and my daughter is 10. We have a million questions and July will be here before we know it. Can some help us with the following questions?
1. What are the best schools in order for my children (ISK, Brookhouse and Hillcrest). My kids attend private school in NY and are very athletic and want to play competitively in school. (son- American football, baseball & basketball. daughter - swimming, basketball, volleyball, tennis). My daughter also loves the arts.
2. do to traffic is it practical to live near or in Karen and attend ISK? or will it take and hour or so to get there?
3. best place to get recommendations for domestic help and a driver.
4. is it possible to lease a car and how?
5. Does it make any sense to bring any of our electrical appliances (HD TV, computers, kitchen appliances) do to the different electric current? our can we buy electric adapters to use our tv's and appliances?
6. What following neighborhood is the most social/fun neighborhoods that are also internationally diverse? (Karen, Runda, Kitisuru, Nyari, Gigiri or Muthaiga? Mind you we live in Manhattan NY love to go out socialize and have a good time.
7. the best internet provider?
8. the best satellite or cable provider for television watching that will get us the most american networks (ESPN, HBO, Showtime) and others?
9. is there a little league baseball team?
10. is there a way i can keep my american cell number and have calls transferred to my new Kenyan phone? or just get a chip to put in my american phone? basically i need to keep my number but want to do it cheaply. :-)
11. my wife loves spinning. Are there any spinning classes?
12. We have a Guinea pig. What do we have to do to bring it with us?
I've always been told that know good question is stupid. i hope these don't sound crazy. they are important to my families transition. I highly appreciate help on these matters. Thanks a million!!!!!!

About the traffic jam,Its very worse nowadays on Nairobi,I reccommend if your ok,its better to stay in karen with your kids study near there.Karen is a kind of posh forested estate full of white people.

And if you are looking for a fully furnished home,i see no need for you to bring your electrical appliances ie tv..But if you want an unfurnished home, bring them onboard.

About the guinea pig, that one i think when you will be applying for the kenyan visas, the travel agent will inform your of the conditions in kenya's "Travel Information Manual."
