Summer 2012 Day Activitiy for a 13 Year Old 25 June-21 July 2012- SOS!

Hello All:
My name is Sandy, and I am a medical student at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine here in the US, and planning on doing an International Medical Rotation in Infectious Disease at Tengeru Hospital from 25 June-20 July 2012. I want to bring my daughter who is 12 and currently in 7th grade. Unfortunately, I spoke with the Moshi/Arusha International School, and they do not have any programs over the Summer. The headmaster told me via email that most expats vacation for the summer.
I am getting concerned about finding something for my daughter since I have only 3 weeks left to submit my rotation decision. I was planning this opportunity with Volunteering Solutions under a contact Charles who also has Karabu Tanzania Safari Company. He made alot of promises that the Hospital approved her to do some community service in Pediatrics while I would do patient rounds. That fell flat on its face last week, when the Matron of the hospital replied that my daughter could not be in the hospital.
I have been left high and dry with no rotation and only 3 weeks left to do something.
Does anyone know of any good summer camps/programs that my daughter could attend? Also, I would be looking for either an apartment or B&B type accomodation with meals for the 4 weeks. Any insight you ladies could provide me ASAP would be appreciated!
I guess you could say I will be an expat for 4 weeks!

Summer activity for 13 year old child

Hi there Sandy,

Sorry that I don't know exactly where Tengeru Hospital is? I assume it is in Tanzania? I know about a couple of day/summer camps in Nairobi but not sure if this will help you?

I would thoroughly recommend a 6 day residential camp run over these exact weeks in Athi River outside Nairobi - Camp Blue Sky. It's a Christian camp run by 20 somethings for 5 weekends from early June to Mid July - we are not hugely evangelical christians ourselves but this doesn't seem to matter - the kids always have an absolute blast surrounded by kids their own age - playing games, putting on plays doing outdoor sports etc. Plenty of kids fly in from Tanzania for this camp and camp staff will arrange to pick your child from the airport/train - whatever. It's very well organised and also reasonably priced. Look at

Let me know exactly where the hospital is and I'll see if I can help some more.
